Trace Lewis and Clark’s Path Along the Missouri River Without Sacrificing Creature Comforts

BOZEMAN, Mont. – Grab a paddle and hop aboard a replica voyageur canoe to follow the historic Lewis and Clark Expedition Trail along Montana’s Missouri River. This women-only adventure vacation will travel the same route, through the very waters Lewis and Clark navigated more than 200 years ago. At night, bed down at private camps already setup for you – this is “glamping” at its very best! For more than 30 years, AdventureWomen has led women-only adventure vacations for active travelers over 30, adding new and exciting tours to the prospectus each year. For 2015, AdventureWomen has created a unique, five-day itinerary leading adventurers through the dazzling white sandstone cliffs and rugged badlands of the Missouri River Breaks, a National Geographic “Best Trips 2013”. Guests will navigate 34-foot voyageur canoes modeled after the ones used on the famous Corps of Discovery Expedition. A guest historian will bring the journey alive, reading from the explorers’ journals at every notable stop. Not only will you learn about the Lewis and Clark expedition but also every major theme in Western Plains history: Indian cultures, the fur trade, the steamboat era, and more.

Every afternoon, a “camp raft” will run ahead to the private camps, setting up the kitchen and spacious two-person tents, complete with cots, soft pads and sleeping bags. When the group arrive in camp, all you have to do is carry your personal gear to your tent, freshen up, and head to the kitchen for hors d’ oeuvres, drinks and dinner.
