Baja “Day of the Dead” Multi-Sport Fun

Dive into in Mexican culture and the easy Baja, Mexico lifestyle with Day of the Dead festivities, surfing lessons, horseback riding, kayaking, snorkeling with sea lions, and glamping under the stars on the Sea of Cortez.

Just as families celebrating El Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) warmly welcome ancestors, you’re warmly welcomed to participate in these cultural celebrations in Todos Santos, where your seven-day Baja adventure unfolds. Once a sleepy Mexican town, today Todos Santos is a flourishing artists’ colony and cultural hub. What better place to start your week of pure fun on the Sea of Cortez?

Arrive at gorgeous Los Colibris Casitas to meet the women with whom you’ll participate in the week’s adventures, beginning with Day of the Dead events. Walk to the graveyard to learn the deeper value of El Dia de los Muertos, join the crowd in getting your face painted like Catrina, the “lady of the dead” and the evening’s star. Your night of celebrations culminates in the Catrina Contest, where everyone competes for the best rendition of this iconic character and cultural symbol.

The next day, be bold and take to the waves for a women-only surfing clinic under the guidance of the best local Baja surf instructors. They’ll get you up on your board and give you tips about maneuvering into the gentle waves. You can DO this! You’ll feel triumphant as you catch that first curl and sail toward the beach, showing your fellow AdventureWomen that anyone can surf, at any age, even with zero experience! Later, experience the joy of horseback riding along a white-sand beach lapped by the gentle waves of the Pacific Ocean.

Feeling relaxed after an early morning yoga class, head for Isla Espiritu Santo for two exquisite nights “glamping” (luxurious camping) on a private beach. Our private camp is just perfect for sunbathing, a bit of hiking, and trying your hand with a stand-up paddle board or kayaking in nearby secluded lagoons. But without a doubt, the island’s most unforgettable treasure is swimming and snorkeling with the local sea lions. Why not join them as they spin, spiral, twist, and twirl, creating their own underwater Baja ballet? Make sure someone in your group gets this on video!

While on your Baja Day of the Dead adventure, you enjoy the freshest seacoast Mexican cuisine including fish tacos, tapas, burritos, ceviche, fresh salads, fruits, and breads, plus microbrews, local vintages, and of course, margaritas—in the land where they were born!

Over your farewell dinner with new AdventureWomen friends, reflect on how easy it was to relax, enjoy shared activities, and really laugh as you and your travel companions learned to surf, snorkeled with sea lions and learned to love Baja’s charm, active lifestyle, and local color, together.
