INDIA'S HOLY GANGES Aboard the Bengal Ganga
From high in the mighty Himalayas, the holy Ganges River (known as Mother Ganga to Indians) flows 1,500 miles south and east to the Bay of Bengal, through areas Western visitors have rarely seen. Hot summer weather and varying water levels limit the cruising season to only a few months per year. During our 10 night riverboat journey upstream from Kolkata (Calcutta) to Simraia you will experience a vibrant tapestry of varied religious beliefs, historical sagas, diverse flora and fauna (cruise through a river dolphin sactuary!), fascinating cultural traditions, brilliant architecture, and incredible landscapes. Then continuing overland two days to Varanasi (Benares), we are treated to a tapestry of Muslim and colonial architecture, Hindu culture, Buddhist temples, the daily rituals of village life, and unspoiled countryside seldom encountered by travelers. At trip's end, there's an option to extend to the Taj Majal and Bharatpur.
Infused with influences of past rulers and European settlers, the Ganges is one of the most important and glorious rivers in the world. Aboard our home, the luxurious Bengal Ganga, we cruise through a thought-provoking visual kaleidoscope of India, on a once-in-a-lifetime journey that opens up an entire civilization's beliefs, lifestyles, and culture. The Mother Ganga guides us to look within and beyond ourselves. $8,995 main deck; $9,995 upper deck. Internal air included. International round-trip flight from U.S.A. – Kolcutta, and Delhi – U.S.A. priced separately ($1,000 deposit). Post tour extension Bharatpur, Agra (Taj Mahal) and Delhi: $1,295. Moderate.

THE BEST OF CHILE: Santiago Wine Country, the Atacama Desert, and Easter Island
An eclectic AND electric mix of the BEST of Chile, we begin our journey walking through beautiful winery trails in the Colchagua Valley, the heart of Chile's wine country just outside the colonial city of Santiago, with visits, wine tastings, and overnights in sumptuous hotel-haciendas and guesthouses. Exploring the remote Atacama Desert in Northern Chile, the driest desert in the world, experience a bare but beautiful landscape that's out of this world. Then fly to Easter Island, considered the most remote inhabited island in the world, and one of the most mystifying places on Earth. Isolated for centuries from the outside world, with a history that remains as unclear as it is evocative, the people of Rapa Nui developed their own distinctive culture, best known by the moai, huge figures carved of volcanic rock. Hundreds of these sculpted monoliths dot the landscape. Discover why many important parts of the puzzle, including how and why the moai were built, remain uncertain. PRICE TBA. International round-trip flight from U.S.A. – Santiago, Chile, and internal flights (Santiago-Calama-Santiago-Easter Island) priced separately ($800 deposit). Moderate.

WALKING IN PROVENCE, FRANCE
Roll the word "Provence" around your tongue and feel the warmth of the sun, taste the dry rose wine, and smell the pungent herbs. Like gliding through an impressionist painting, you'll be immersed in the light and life of this land. We'll walk the exquisitely colorful spring landscape and discover sensual Provence along its footpaths, past perched villages painted in pastel pinks, blues and greens, and pause in shaded cafes. Our walks will take us through vineyards and pine forests - along trails which have served for centuries - and we'll picnic on olives, goat cheese, tomatoes and strawberries. Spring is the season to visit Provence, when every color of flower blooms. Fields are bright with poppies, yards burst with irises, and stone farmhouses are graced with tall bowers of multi-colored roses. Our trails are lined with wildflowers in purple, yellow, and white, and the perfume of wisteria, wild rosemary and thyme scent the air. We stay in wonderful hotels and dine as the French do. If it's Spring, you must hike Provence!! PRICE TBA, from Avignon, France. ($800 deposit) Easy to Moderate

HIKING ON THE CAMINO DE SANTIAGO PILGRIMAGE TRAIL
The Camino de Santiago is one of the great historical long distance walking routes across Europe that leads to Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain, where St. James, the apostle, is said to be buried. Beginning in one of the original medieval starting points of the Camino, we get a pilgrims passport and blessing from the cathedral in the French town of Le Puy en Velay. Along our route, the ‘Via Podensis’, we cross through breathtaking landscapes without the crowds and head south towards the Pyrenees, passing through the occasional village, across high plateaus and herds of grazing sheep and cattle. Our pilgrimage hike ends in Conques, one of the most evocative Romanesque pilgrimage monasteries in France. Authentic, exceptional food, charming rural villages, magnificent cathedrals, and the unbeatable landscapes of southern France combine to make this pilgrimage hike on the Camino de Santiago an experience you will not soon forget.
