October 26 – November 1, 2007
The antidote for the pre-winter, pre-holiday rush! There’s no better way to explore the warm and gentle waters of Baja’s Espiritu Santo Island than in a sea kayak. A remarkably easy
sport, the quiet Sea of Cortez provides a magical environment in which to learn kayaking skills necessary to become a confident paddler. Kayaks are easier than a canoe to paddle and steer, and more stable too – especially for women who have lower centers of gravity.
We’ll paddle our sea kayaks into beautiful bays, hike canyons adorned with hanging wild figs, and snorkel with sea lions. Knowledgeable local guides, a comfortable safari-style beach camp, and fresh American and traditional Mexican food make this trip a great last travel fling for 2007. As a splendid finale, we return to La Paz for an additional night, to wander through the gift shops and street vendor stalls, stroll along the waterfront area of this tranquil Mexican port, and gather together for a traditional Mexican farewell dinner.

It’s no wonder that one of our longest-running, most popular winter getaways is our British Virgin Islands Caribbean Sail, Snorkel, and Scuba adventure. In the middle of winter, who wouldn’t want to be onboard the world’s largest luxury trimaran sailboat, enjoying a fabulous warm-weather escape with watersports activities galore, decadent food, and wonderful accommodations—an experience rated as “one of the top five vacations in the world” by travel writers!
Our days are filled with sailing, snorkeling, and scuba diving, in addition to eating and also relaxing! Take your pick of activities, or just sit on the deck and read a book! Here are a few thoughts from our past AdventureWomen participants, and I think what they say about the trip speaks for itself…

I would do this trip again because…
“…even though I have now done it twice, I can’t see it ever getting boring. Between the scenery, the diving, the great people that you meet and the excellent crew – it is truly a week of wonders! I will definitely be back next year!”
“…each day is full of options to enjoy your Caribbean adventure. The boat is super-comfortable, with a fun and energy-filled crew, anxious to serve…”
“… it’s a wonderful opportunity for snorkeling, diving, kayaking, and even sailing the Hobie Cats that are available.”
“…the boat was absolutely amazing. I loved the diving … and getting my advanced PADI open water certification… and hope to see you again!”

On this epic journey we’ll travel to the province of Yunnan, home to the ancient city of Lijiang and China’s most picturesque, stunning scenery and ethnic Naxi peoples. Located on the Tibetan Plateau of China’s border with Tibet, Lijiang lies in an ever-changing mountainous panorama and a veil of snowy peaks. Stay in Lijiang’s UNESCO World Heritage “Old Town” and also visit Tiger Leaping Gorge. Was it indeed the “Shangri-La” of James Hilton’s book Lost Horizon?
Before crossing into Tibet, we’ll pay a visit to Chengdu, home of China’s Giant Panda Breeding Center. We’ll then fly to Tibet to explore outstanding monasteries and Lhasa, the Tibetan Buddhist capital at the “top of the world,” for seven days. A vast, mysterious land of high plateaus and massive mountain peaks, Tibet has long intrigued the West. We travel back to mainland China and Beijing on an overnight train trip on the new high altitude Qinghai-Tibet Railway.
