Celebrate Mexican “Day of the Dead” festivities in Baja, Mexico, as you snorkel with sea lions, kayak, swim, surf, horseback ride and relax on the beaches of the Pacific and the Sea of Cortez in November 2019.
Baja, Mexico is a slender finger of desert that splits the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez and abruptly ends where their waters meet, nearly 800 miles south of California. Its parched, copper-colored earth creates a perfect color complement to the cool, cerulean sea.
The Mexican town of Todos Santos, your seaside home, has become a flourishing artist colony and cultural hub- a microcosm of all things Baja. What better place start your week of pure fun?
Start by joining in the “Day of Dead” festivities in the historic Todos Santos. Theis authentic Mexican festival honors and celebrates the importance of ancestors. You will have the unique opportunity to participate in the Catrina Contest, symbolized by La Catrina, or “elegant skeleton,” is the culmination of the Day of the Dead festivities. The symbolic Catrina is steeped in history, dating back to the ancient Aztec period. She is inspired by Mictecacihuatl, the goddess of death and Lady of Mictlan, the underworld.
Next, take to the waves for a women-only surf clinic under the guidance of the best local surf instructors. They’ll get you up on your board and give you helpful tips about maneuvering into the gentle waves. You can DO this! You’ll feel triumphant as you catch that first curl and sail toward the beach, showing your fellow AdventureWomen that anyone can surf, at any age, even with zero experience! Later, you’ll go horseback riding along a white-sand beach lapped by the waves of the Pacific Ocean.
After enjoying an early morning yoga class, leave Los Colibris and head for Isla Espiritu Santo, where you will find your glamping (luxury camping) site on a private beach. Spend the days stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, snorkeling, hiking, or just relaxing on the beach. Swimming and snorkeling with sea lions is also a once-in-a-lifetime experience as you watch these acrobatic creatures spin, spiral, twist, twirl, and pirouette, creating their own underwater Baja ballet.
While on our Baja adventure, we’ll enjoy the freshest seacoast Mexican cuisine including fish tacos, tapas, burritos, ceviche, fresh salads, fruits, and breads, plus microbrews, local vintages, and of course, margaritas—in the land where they were born!
Join us for Dad of the Dead celebrations, surfing, snorkeling and swimming with sea lions, magical sunsets, and fun filled adventure in Baja, where the warmth and relaxing beach invites you to blow off your cares in November 2019!
