First Women-Only Cuba Trip Spotlights Country’s Natural Side From National Parks and Botanical Gardens to Bird Watching and Crocodile Breeding

BOZEMAN, MONTANA -- While more tour companies are offering trips to Cuba since the easing of U.S. tourism restrictions, AdventureWomen is the first to offer a Cuba adventure travel trip just for women. The company, which specializes in group adventure vacations for women ages 30+ traveling solo, will offer two Cuba tours in 2016 -- one in May and a second trip in October -- that showcase the country’s often overlooked, but amazing wildlife and beautiful natural landscapes of this fascinating country.

Highlights of the 10-day trip Cuba: Savoring Her Music, Cuisine and the Arts While You Still Can include visits to the Botanical Gardens in both Havana and Cienfeugos and Cuba’s National Zoo, meeting with zookeepers and scientists. Women will also visit Las Terrazas National Park, which is ideal for bird watching and spotting the Tocororo, the national bird of Cuba whose colors mimic those on the Cuban flag. There is a journey to Cuba’s upcountry, walking through UNESCO’s Cienaga de Zapata Natural and Wildlife Reserve, which are home to two birds found nowhere else, and a guided nature walk in El Cubano Park in the Escambray Mountains to learn about the ecosystem and resident bird life.

In Trinidad, the group will meet with breeders and scientists at a crocodile breeding farm, followed by a visit to a farming community. The final two nights include a stop at the island of Cayo Encenachos to explore Cayo Santa Maria National Park and its seabirds and marine life where they will learn about the importance of fishing and explore nature trails in these Cuban “Keys” that are home to more than 60 local species and 245 plant species.

Other highlights of AdventureWomen's Cuba trip include a trip to the Fine Arts Museum; a tour of Old Havana, home of some of the most stunning Spanish colonial architecture in the world; a visit to the Federation of Cuban Women; attending a culinary school in Havana; a stop at the Bay of Pigs; a visit to the Trinidad Historical Center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; a ride on a vintage steam train and opportunities to meet and interact with local historical experts and the country's finest musicians, artists, dancers, farmers, researchers, inspiring community project leaders and entrepreneurs.

The Cuba: Savoring Her Music, Cuisine and the Arts While You Still Can is a "People-to-People" exchange, since (despite the new changes), U.S. regulations still only allow travel in Cuba for American citizens that facilitates interaction with locals and an understanding of Cuba's culture.

“With relaxed restrictions to the island nation, more travel companies are now offering programs to Cuba, and with an influx of American tourists, the culture and its environment will inevitably be transformed,” says Susan Eckert, president and founder of AdventureWomen. “We want to see Cuba -- and its fantastic wildlife and natural beauty -- now, while it is still strong, healthy and alive!”

The Cuba trip for women, offered May 5-14 and October 13-22, 2016, starts at $6595 per person and can be reserved by visiting www.AdventureWomen.com or calling 800-804-8686.
